Delaware has 5 Trails of Discovery that will provide fun for both family and friends throughout the year. Learn about Delaware’s history, participate in outdoor activities, or enjoy a cold one at a popular brewery. Here’s a breakdown of what you can expect from each trail:
Delaware History Trail
Delaware has a rich history, becoming the first state to ratify the US Constitution in 1787. This trail highlights significant locations statewide that have impacted not only Delaware’s history, but also the entire country. You can download a sample itinerary, see what interests you the most, and plan your route. Don’t forget to bring your passport!
Delaware Outdoor Trail
There’s no better way to get to know Delaware than to spend time outdoors. On the outdoor trail, you can choose from activities such as kayaking in the Inland Bays, zipline across Lums Pond, or bike some of Delaware’s outstanding wooded trails. Delaware Beer, Wine & Spirits Trail
After your adventures on the outdoor trail, spend a weekend touring a few of Delaware’s 17 breweries, wineries and distilleries. From the award winning Dogfish Head Craft Brewery to the Painted Stave Distillery, there are many thirst-quenching options that will be a hit with the over 21 crowd. Delaware Culinary Trail
For the food fanatics, Delaware offers a wide variety of culinary treats. On the Delaware Culinary trail, you will have the chance to visit 24 different restaurants in each region of the state. Enjoy fresh seafood at the Big Fish Grill in Rehoboth and many of the other restaurants located on our “culinary coast”. Once you travel to at least 15 restaurants on the trail, submit your passport to receive the limited-edition hardbound cookbook entitled, “First State Plates: Iconic Delaware Restaurants and Recipes.”
Delaware Geocaching Trail
For those seeking a little more adventure and are great with a compass, embark on the Delaware Geocaching Trail! Download your passport and receive GPS coordinates to over 65 cache locations throughout the state. Geocaching is a unique way to discover some beautiful spots throughout the area.
